Pre-audit measuring equipment checklist

Practical steps for reviewing equipment records, from inventory to certificates.

Inventory and physical equipment

Are equipment IDs, serial numbers, locations, owners and use statuses up to date? Is equipment that is out of service properly separated?

Calibration and assessment records

Are the relevant certificates accessible? Does the calibration scope match the intended use? Are the result assessment and use decision recorded?

Follow-up and unusual results

Are upcoming and overdue dates reviewed? Are actions tracked for suspicious measurement results or equipment found unsuitable?

Responsibility and practice

Do users know how to check equipment status? Are instructions accessible? This list is a general starting point and should be expanded to match the audit scope.
