An Industry 5.0 initiative need not begin with a loosely defined technology purchase. A bounded pilot can reveal the data, skills and process changes a business needs. The following 90-day plan is an illustrative framework developed by Yetki Endüstriyel for this article. It is not an official transition standard or a timetable guaranteeing the same outcome everywhere; adapt the duration to the scope.
Days 1–30: define the problem and baseline
Select one product family or workstation. Record the process with representatives from operations, quality, maintenance and production planning. Examine waiting, rework and information-access problems together. Give the pilot an owner, a scope and success criteria. One objective might be reducing repeated checks without increasing operator workload. Record the baseline period, product mix and measurement method before comparing later results.
Days 31–60: test the solution with workers
The first intervention could simplify an instruction or improve access to instrument records rather than purchase a machine. The European Commission’s roadmap on human-centric manufacturing addresses skills and work organisation alongside technology. Building on that perspective, our suggestion is to test the pilot across shifts and capture feedback in a change log. Define responsibilities in the new workflow and a way back to the previous arrangement if unexpected results occur.
Days 61–90: measure gains from several perspectives
A suggested review table can combine rework rate, energy or material use per product, downtime and usability issues reported by workers. Keep the data source and calculation method consistent for each indicator. Explain changes in product mix or shift duration. Track total energy separately from consumption per unit. Do not generalise improvements in a small sample to the whole factory; consider whether longer observation is needed to validate them.
How should scaling be decided?
Finish the pilot with updated instructions, training records, assigned responsibilities and open actions, not just a presentation. We suggest answering three questions together: is the work clearer for employees, is resource loss falling, and can the process continue through disruption? If results are positive, plan a controlled rollout to a similar line. Otherwise, investigate data quality, solution design and training. Success depends on measurable, sustained improvement rather than the number of technologies purchased.
